Targeting unconditional cash transfers to Syrian refugees in Lebanon

In collaboration with UNHCR and UN-WFP, my team (Onur Altındağ, Bentley University; Aytuğ Şaşmaz, Harvard University; Zeynep Balcıoğlu, Northeastern University) and I contribute to the design of the targeting system for over USD300 million of annual unconditional cash and in-kind assistance to Syrian refugees in Lebanon. A manuscript related to this work is available in research.

I study how information frictions, institutional rules, and economic constraints shape who benefits from social programs, who advances in careers, and how firms and people recover from shocks.
